Two days ago; golfing legend Tom Watson penned a rather reproving letter to PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan on the recent PGA/PIF merger. In the letter, Watson notes a number of appropriate criticisms concerning the deal including hypocrisy from the tour leadership, the lack of transparency among the members during negotiation, and finally the glaring reality of Saudi involvement in the September 11th attacks. In his letter, Watson also addressed an important point that some PGA players refused LIV offers solely because of the human rights violations committed by Saudi Arabia, and that simply “compensating” those same players with Saudi money after the merger ignores the very reason the players refused the money in the first place. I believe Watson makes a number of important points for which I largely agree with, what do you think?
